Drawing with Fire - Val Wigham

Drawing with Fire — the art of pyrography by Val Wigham

Welcome to my world of wood, flame, and mark-making. Drawing with fire, where fire becomes a brush, wood becomes canvas, and each piece tells a story — a story of nature, imagination, and the joy of creation.

Drawing with Fire

To draw with fire is to breathe life into wood — to create something lasting, born of heat, patience, and imagination.
Each mark tells a story, each grain a whisper of time.
Pyrography, once humble, now reborn — an art form of texture, spirit, and transformation.
This is where nature meets flame, and creation becomes legacy.

The Story Behind the Wood

I believe my work is unique because it tells two stories — one on each side. On the front, you see the image. On the reverse, I burn the narrative: the inspiration, the concept, the journey from idea to completion. Each piece is date-marked, stamped, and signed in fire.

You can display either side — the choice is yours. Decades later, the story will still be there, etched into the wood, ready to be rediscovered. Both surfaces of the wood hold such beauty; it feels only right to celebrate them both.
